I composed this piece to celebrate a much-loved life now passed.
It’s a bitter sweet romantic instrumental for piano & strings, capturing both the deep loss and grateful celebration held in the heart at time of bereavement.
My Aunt Eileen was a magnificent lady who emigrated from Scotland to the USA after qualifying as a midwife. There she met John Murphy, who became her husband and lifelong love.
John and their children travelled back to Scotland this year to lay her to rest in her beloved Scottish Highlands, and this composition is dedicated to them.

oh Jennifer, I will never be able to full express my gratitude. This is so beautiful. My mom loved to dance and I can see her twirling and moving to your music.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you Deirdre, I can see that too, I love the power of music to communicate without words 🙂
What a beautiful piece, a really lovely composition and played with such sensitivity.
Thank you Nigel 🙂
A great piece – I liked especially the 6/8 ‘trio’ section in the middle. When you remember then you remember some happy times too ..but bittersweet.
Thank you for listening Gary 🙂 Your observation of the uptempo 6/8 section being a kind of trio is intriguing. When writing the music there I had a strong image in mind of John and Eileen on the dance floor of a stately home, dancing the classical way, like people did in Mozart’s day. Thanks for reminding me of the word that describes that musical form, I had forgotten it! Jennifer
